How to Create a Twitter Poll
Learn how to create and publish a poll on Twitter/X using Reepl's poll editor
Twitter polls let you ask your audience a question with 2 to 4 answer options. Reepl's poll editor lets you compose the question, set answer choices, pick a duration, and publish -- all from the content creator.
Before you start: You need a connected Twitter/X account. See Connect Your Twitter/X Account if you have not done this yet.
Open the Content Creator
From the left sidebar, click Content Creator and select Twitter / X as the platform.
Add a poll
Click the poll icon in the composer toolbar. The poll editor appears below your tweet text.
Write your question
Type your poll question in the main tweet editor. This is the tweet text that appears above the poll options. The standard 280-character limit applies.
Add answer choices
The poll starts with two answer fields. Each shows a placeholder like "Choice 1", "Choice 2".
- Type your answer text in each field (25 characters max per choice)
- A character counter shows the remaining characters for each option
- Click Add choice to add more options (up to 4 total)
Set the duration
Use the Duration dropdown to choose how long the poll stays open. Options range from 5 minutes to 7 days:
5 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 6 hours, 12 hours, 1 day, 3 days, or 7 days.
Publish
Click Post to publish the tweet with the poll. The poll begins accepting votes immediately.
What success looks like
Your tweet appears on X with the poll options displayed below the question text. Followers can vote directly from their timeline. After the duration expires, final results are shown publicly.
Tips
- Keep choices short and distinct. With a 25-character limit per option, be concise. Overlapping choices confuse voters and split results.
- Use polls to spark conversation. Polls with surprising or debatable options tend to generate replies and quotes beyond just votes.
- Choose the right duration. Short polls (1--6 hours) create urgency. Longer polls (1--7 days) collect more votes but lose momentum.
