How to Write a Long-Form Article on X
Draft and publish long-form articles to X with Reepl's distraction-free editor and autosave
Reepl includes a long-form article editor for X (Twitter) -- a distraction-free writing surface for X's Articles feature, separate from the regular tweet composer. Drafts autosave as you write, and you can publish immediately, schedule for later, or push a one-time snapshot to X as a draft.
This is a preview feature. The article editor isn't linked from the sidebar yet -- go directly to app.reepl.io/content-creator/articles to use it. It requires a Pro plan or higher and a connected X account.
X's own Articles feature requires an X Premium subscription on the connected account. You can still draft an article in Reepl without X Premium, but publishing to X may fail until the connected account is upgraded.
Write an article
Open the article editor
Go to app.reepl.io/content-creator/articles. If you have no articles yet, click Write your first article; otherwise click New article.
Add a title
Type your title at the top of the page. There's no character limit shown -- just write.
Add a cover image (optional)
Drag and drop an image at the top of the article, or click the image button to upload a file or generate one with AI.
Write the body
Write in the body area below the title. Select any text to bring up a floating formatting toolbar with bold, italic, strikethrough, links, headings, lists, and blockquotes -- the formatting options match what X's Articles feature supports. To add an inline image, hover over an empty line and click the + button that appears in the left margin.
Let it autosave
Your article saves automatically about 1.5 seconds after you stop typing. A status indicator in the top bar shows Unsaved changes, Saving, or Saved -- click Unsaved changes at any time to force an immediate save.
Only images uploaded or pasted as files work in the article body. Pasting a link to an image hosted on another site is rejected -- copy the image itself and paste it, or use the image button to upload it.
Publish or schedule
Click Publish in the top bar (enabled once your article has a title, at least one word of body text, and a connected X account) to open the publish dialog:
- Publish now -- publishes the article to X immediately.
- Schedule for later -- pick a date and time slot to publish automatically.
Push to X as a draft
Because X has no API for updating a draft in place, the ··· menu's Push to X as draft option creates a one-time snapshot of the article on X -- it does not stay in sync with further edits in Reepl. After pushing, the editor shows a banner reminding you that publishing for real will create a fresh article on X with your latest content, separate from the pushed snapshot.
Article status
Each article shows a status badge: Draft, On X as draft (pushed), Scheduled, Publishing, Published, or Failed. A published article shows a View on X button. A scheduled article locks for editing until you click Unschedule. A failed publish shows the error and lets you retry or revert it to a draft.
