Build a Custom Prompt Library for Your Team
Create, organize, and share custom prompts for consistent AI-generated LinkedIn content across your team
A well-organized prompt library ensures everyone on your team produces consistent, high-quality content with AI assistance. This guide walks you through building a custom prompt library from scratch -- from creating your first prompts to sharing them with your team.
You need an active Reepl account with AI features enabled. Team sharing requires a plan with multiple seats. Check Settings > Subscription Plans to verify your plan.
Explore the built-in prompt library
Start by reviewing what is already available. Open the Prompt Library from the left sidebar under AI & Automation. Browse the built-in prompts organized by category:
- Post types (thought leadership, storytelling, how-to, listicle)
- Engagement (comment replies, DM responses, connection messages)
- Repurposing (article to post, video to post, thread expansion)
Use these as inspiration and starting points for your custom prompts.
Create your first custom prompt
Navigate to the Custom Prompts page and click Create Prompt. A good custom prompt includes:
- Name -- A clear, descriptive title (e.g., "Weekly Industry Roundup Post")
- Category -- Assign it to a category for easy discovery
- Prompt text -- The instructions the AI follows when generating content
- Variables -- Placeholders for dynamic input (e.g.,
[topic],[key takeaway],[audience])
Write prompt text that is specific about structure, tone, and output format. For example: "Write a LinkedIn post about [topic] for [audience]. Start with a bold statement, follow with 3 supporting points, and end with a question. Keep it under 250 words."
Build prompts for recurring content types
Create prompts for each type of content you regularly produce:
- Weekly roundup -- Summarize industry news or personal learnings
- Case study -- Share a client result with context, challenge, solution, and outcome
- Hot take -- Express an opinion on a trending topic with supporting reasoning
- How-to guide -- Step-by-step instructions on a topic in your expertise
- Personal story -- Share a narrative with a professional lesson
Each prompt should encode your brand's structure and tone expectations so any team member can generate consistent output.
Connect prompts to voice profiles
For maximum consistency, pair your prompts with Voice Profiles. When a team member selects a custom prompt and a voice profile, the AI combines both -- following the prompt's structure while matching the voice profile's tone and style.
This is especially useful for teams where multiple people write on behalf of a single brand or executive.
Organize and share with your team
Group your custom prompts into logical categories:
- By content format (text posts, carousels, video scripts)
- By purpose (lead generation, thought leadership, engagement)
- By audience (prospects, customers, industry peers)
Shared prompts are visible to all team members in the prompt library. Add notes or usage instructions to each prompt so team members know when and how to use it.
Iterate based on results
Track which prompts produce the best-performing content:
- After publishing AI-generated posts, note which prompt was used
- Check engagement metrics in Analytics after a week
- Refine prompts that produce below-average results -- adjust the instructions, structure, or tone guidance
- Archive prompts that are no longer relevant
A prompt library is a living resource. The best teams review and update their prompts monthly.
Your custom prompt library is now a team asset that makes content creation faster, more consistent, and easier to scale. As you add more prompts and refine existing ones, the quality bar rises for everyone.
