How to Generate a LinkedIn About Section

Learn how to use Reepl's About Section Generator to write a professional LinkedIn About section in three steps

The About Section Generator produces a ready-to-use LinkedIn About section based on your role, industry, skills, and preferred writing style. It follows a three-step flow: pick a structure template, fill in your details, then review and copy the result.

Open the About Section Generator

Navigate to Creation Tools in the left sidebar, then select About Section Generator. You can also go directly to app.reepl.io/creation-tools/about-section-generator.

The page opens at Step 1: Choose Template.

Choose a structure template

Select one of the six available structure templates. Each template shapes how the generated About section is organized:

  • Story-Based -- Leads with a personal narrative arc
  • Achievement-Focused -- Leads with quantified accomplishments
  • Value Proposition -- Leads with what you offer to your audience
  • Mission-Driven -- Leads with purpose and deeper motivations
  • Expertise Showcase -- Leads with credentials and domain authority
  • Problem-Solution -- Leads with a problem you solve for clients

Click View Example on any template card to preview a sample output before committing. Click Use Template to proceed to the next step.

Enter your details

Fill in the form fields. Required fields are marked with an asterisk:

  • Professional Role/Title (required) -- Your current job title, e.g., Marketing Director
  • Industry/Field (required) -- Your sector, e.g., Technology or Healthcare
  • Years of Experience (required) -- How long you have been in your field, e.g., 8+ years
  • Target Audience (required) -- Who you want to reach, e.g., Recruiters or Potential clients
  • Key Skills/Expertise (required) -- Comma-separated list of your top skills
  • Career Highlights/Achievements (optional) -- Notable accomplishments or projects
  • Professional Values/Philosophy (optional) -- Your work principles or beliefs

Then configure the writing style:

  • Tone -- Choose from Professional, Conversational, Enthusiastic, Thoughtful, or Authoritative
  • Structure -- The selected template pre-fills this field; you can change it here if needed
  • Include call to action -- Toggle on to add an invitation for readers to connect or reach out
  • Include emojis -- Toggle on to add emojis to the generated text

Click Generate About Section when all required fields are complete.

Review and use your result

The generated About section appears in the Generated About Section card. A character count is shown at the bottom (LinkedIn allows up to 2,600 characters).

From the result view, you can:

  • Click Copy to copy the text to your clipboard
  • Click Download to save it as a .txt file
  • Click Regenerate to produce a new variation using the same inputs
  • Click Back to Details to adjust your inputs and regenerate
  • Click Create Another to start over with a fresh form

Paste the copied text into your LinkedIn profile by navigating to your profile page, clicking the pencil icon on the About section, and replacing the existing content.

LinkedIn truncates About sections in the feed view at around 210 characters, showing a "see more" link. Put your strongest hook in the first two sentences so readers click through.
