How to Set Up Your Signal Profile

Learn how to configure your signal profile in Reepl to receive personalised content opportunities, trending topics, and inspiration matched to your niche

Your signal profile tells Reepl what you post about and where to look for opportunities. Setting it up takes about two minutes and unlocks a personalised feed of signals delivered to your inbox every two hours.

Before you start: You need an active Reepl subscription (Pro plan or above). If you want Reddit or Twitter/X as signal sources, you will need to connect those accounts during setup.

Open Signals and start setup

From the left sidebar, click Signals. If this is your first visit, you will see an introduction screen explaining what Signals does. Click Activate Signals to begin the five-step profile setup.

If you already have a profile and want to edit it, click the settings icon (gear) next to the Signals label in the sidebar, or tap Edit profile on mobile.

Step 1 -- Choose your sources

Select which platforms Reepl should monitor for signals. Toggle each source on or off:

  • Reddit -- requires connecting your Reddit account. Click Connect to authorise via OAuth.
  • YouTube -- no connection required. Surfaces trending video topics and comments.
  • Google Trends -- no connection required. Shows search spikes and momentum.
  • RSS Feeds -- no connection required. Pulls from industry blogs and publications.
  • Twitter / X -- requires Premium plan and a connected X account. Click Connect to authorise.
  • Personalized X Trends -- only appears after connecting X. Requires an X Premium subscription on your X account.

You must select at least one source to continue. Click Continue when ready.

Step 2 -- Define your angle (optional)

Enter a short description of your specific content angle. This helps Reepl pick the right subreddits, channels, and feeds -- not just your broad niche.

Examples: "productivity for remote teams", "personal finance for millennials", "marketing for small businesses"

This field is optional (max 120 characters). Skip it if you want to keep things broad. Click Continue.

Step 3 -- Add topics to avoid (optional)

Enter terms you want filtered out of your signals. These become negative filters -- Reepl will exclude signals mentioning these terms.

Type a term and press Enter or comma to add it as a tag. Click the x on any tag to remove it. Examples: "B2C", "crypto", "enterprise".

This step is optional. Click Continue.

Step 4 -- Enter your topics

List the specific topics you post about, separated by commas. Your niche is the broad category; topics are the specific angles you explore. Reepl uses these to score signal relevancy so the most relevant signals in your exact content pillars surface first.

Example: "AI tools, content marketing, startup hiring"

Click Continue.

Step 5 -- Select signal types

Choose which kinds of signals you want to receive:

  • Opportunities -- questions, problems, and gaps you can address
  • Trending Topics -- what is hot right now in your niche
  • Content Inspiration -- high-performing posts and ideas to riff on

All three are selected by default. You must keep at least one selected. Click Activate Signals to save your profile (or Update Profile if editing an existing one).

What happens next

After saving your profile, Reepl begins scanning your selected sources for signals matching your topics and angle. New signals are delivered to your inbox approximately every two hours. You will see a personalisation strip at the top of your inbox confirming your niche and topics.

If you are on a free plan, you can complete setup but will see an upgrade prompt instead of your inbox. Upgrade to Pro or above to start receiving signals.

Tips

  • Be specific with your angle. "Marketing" is too broad. "LinkedIn marketing for B2B SaaS founders" will produce significantly more relevant signals.
  • Use avoid topics to cut noise. If you keep seeing signals about a topic you never cover, add it to your avoid list.
  • Start with all sources enabled. You can always disable sources later once you see which ones produce the best signals for your niche.
  • Revisit your profile periodically. As your content focus shifts, update your topics and angle to keep signals relevant.
