How to Use the Twitter DM Inbox

Learn how to read and send Twitter/X direct messages from Reepl's unified inbox

Reepl's Twitter DM inbox lets you read and reply to X direct messages without leaving the app. Conversations are synced from your X account and you can search, filter, archive, snooze, and label them to stay organised.

Before you start: The Twitter DM inbox requires a Premium plan and a connected Twitter/X account. Trial users do not have access to this feature.

Open the Inbox

From the left sidebar, click Inbox and select the Twitter / X tab. Your DM conversations appear in a list on the left.

Search and filter conversations

Use the search bar at the top to find conversations by name or content. Filter conversations using the dropdown:

  • All -- all conversations except archived
  • Unread -- conversations with unread messages
  • Archived -- conversations you have archived
  • Snoozed -- conversations you have snoozed for later
  • Label -- filter by any custom label you have applied

Read a conversation

Click a conversation in the list to open the message thread on the right. Messages are displayed chronologically with timestamps.

Send a reply

Type your message in the Type your message... field at the bottom of the conversation. Press Enter or click the send button to post the message.

Organise conversations

Use the action buttons in the conversation header:

  • Archive -- move the conversation out of your main inbox. A toast confirms "Archived" with an Undo option.
  • Labels -- tag conversations with custom labels for categorisation
  • Snooze -- hide the conversation until a chosen date and time. A toast confirms "Snoozed until [date]".
  • View on X -- open the conversation directly on X

Sync and refresh

The inbox syncs your DM history from X:

DetailValue
First syncFetches up to 7 days of message history
Subsequent refreshesFetches up to 500 new events
Maximum refreshes per day5
Minimum time between refreshes30 minutes

Click the refresh button to manually pull new messages. Reepl shows how many refreshes remain for the day.

What success looks like

Your X direct messages appear in a clean, searchable inbox. You can reply to messages, archive resolved conversations, and snooze ones you want to revisit later -- all without opening X.

Tips

  • Use labels to categorise by relationship type. Tag conversations as "Prospects", "Clients", "Partners", or whatever fits your workflow. Then filter by label when you want to focus on a specific group.
  • Snooze instead of ignoring. If a conversation needs a reply later, snooze it to a specific date rather than letting it get buried. It reappears in your inbox when the snooze expires.
  • Archive after resolution. Keep your main inbox clean by archiving conversations that are complete. You can always find them again in the Archived filter.
